Rag & Flag 2006 - Daily Express

rag dancers

Saturday was the annual Rag Day.
Sheares Hall didn't clinch any of the shields.
However, we won more than what a shield can do - and that's the memories and friendships that we made during the past few months.

Seriously, when we were at the parade ground, waiting for the results to be announced, I was quite sure that we could win at least one shield, but to no avail.
Tears began streaming down from my eyes.
There and then, I asked myself why I was crying.

Do we take part in rag just because we have to? Or is it because we genuinely want to do something for the hall? Speaking from the bottom of my heart, taking part in rag this year, on my part, was because I was part of Sheares Hall and it was an activity that i had to be involved in. I started off not having the thought of 'doing something for the hall'. However, as the days went by and i saw all the hardwork put in by the raggers, it suddenly dawned upon me that, YES!, i was indeed doing rag because i wanted to do something FOR THE HALL.

With the closure of rag2006, I am even more certain that i'll be back next year as part of Rag 2007! Not only to bring Sheares hall back to where it was in 2005, but most importantly, CONTRIBUTING TO THE HALL - THE ONE AND ONLY, SHEARES HALL!
